Why do you need a Boletus app?

The problem

A wasted trip? That's the main problem foragers face.

You drive an hour. You know the forest, you know the season — and still come home with an almost empty basket.

The rain came too early, or there wasn’t enough of it
The soil didn't warm up properly
Other apps only show where mushrooms were found — nothing about what's there today

The solution

Boletus knows the forest before you get there

Boletus combines data on soil, tree cover, and land cover with current weather, humidity, and temperature. Based on this, it assesses conditions separately for each mushroom species.

Dynamic layers

What makes us different?

Mushroom-specific and generic

A separate probability layer for each of 10 popular mushrooms. Porcini and chanterelles need different conditions to grow.

5-day forecast, not yesterday's news

Plan your trip before you take the day off — not after someone else already picked the spot.

Satellite-grade data

The same Copernicus and soil-classification data used by European agricultural agencies.

Your spots stay yours

Every score comes from environmental data and science patterns — not from other users' check-ins.

Top spots, ranked

Premium unlocks a ranked list of the best-scoring spots near you, based on current conditions and the 5-day forecast.

Most apps show places previously reported by other users. Boletus analyzes current conditions and shows areas where mushrooms may appear today or in the coming days.

Questions, answered

No. A field guide or identification app helps you work out which mushroom you've already found. Boletus is for planning your trip — it shows where and when conditions may be favorable for specific species.

A regular mushroom map usually shows places previously reported by users. Boletus analyzes current weather, humidity, temperature, soil type, and tree cover to assess current conditions and prepare a forecast for the next 5 days.

Yes. The app presents maps for individual species and highlights areas with conditions favorable for their occurrence. These aren't locations reported by other foragers, though — they're a forecast based on environmental data.

No. Every score on the map is calculated from satellite and weather data, not from other users checking in. Your saved areas and trip history stay private.

Seven live at launch: Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Hungary — chosen for strong foraging culture and satellite coverage. Germany and Finland are coming soon, with more markets as coverage expands.

It combines a slow-changing static layer (soil type, pH, tree species, canopy) that sets whether a location can support a species, and a fast-changing dynamic layer (moisture, temperature trends, season timing) refreshed every day. It's a probability score — think weather forecast, not guarantee.
